ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Our curriculum provides students with a wide range of subject options, allowing them to discover
their own talents and interests. We offer highly professional teaching staff, many of whom are recruited
from the UK. They are backed by the use of technology and state-of-the-art ICT, science and language
labs to facilitate learning at the highest of academic standards. The school has an extensive library for
independent research and private study.
With the exception of Turkish and other language subjects, all classes are taught in English. The highly
respected IGCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes give our students the opportunity
to develop an international perspective and attend some of the world’s top universities. Our goal is that
they leave their school years with confidence in themselves and their own potential.

THE JUNIOR SCHOOL
The ESK Junior School covering the formative years of 3 to 11 is housed in a dedicated wing of the school building,
providing a warm and friendly environment where children can learn with confidence. We seek to nurture and stimulate
young pupils’ talents from the start whilst allowing them to follow their own curiosity. We want our young pupils to
discover that learning is a fun and rewarding pursuit.
The curriculum itself is based on the highly respected Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP). Developed
by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, it forms an excellent grounding for secondary education
with a strong emphasis on English language skills, Science and Mathematics. The timetable also includes use of the
school’s extensive sports facilities, as well as classes in music and creative arts. As pupils progress through the junior years
they are introduced to the skills of independent learning as preparation for their senior education.
THE SENIOR SCHOOL
The senior school takes pupils through from 11 to 18 years of age. During this period students are given a more challenging education where they are encouraged to achieve beyond their
expectations. Specialist teaching rooms are available for advanced work, as well as the use of the library and ICT facilities for research and private study. In the latter years, we offer regular
careers advice and prepare our students to start thinking about their future university and career choices.
Our students undertake the IGCSE exams at 16 and the International Baccalaureate in their final two years with us. Both are widely recognised and highly valued by universities and
employers throughout the world. We are proud to be pioneering the IB in North Cyprus. It distinguishes our pupils and provides them with wider university options. The international
focus of the IB gives our students a broader world view, something which is all the more relevant in today’s global context.
We are committed to the success of our pupils and hope that when they leave the English School of Kyrenia, they will be well prepared to create their own futures and take their place in
the world around them.
